There are no difficult students but only young people with many problems who need a specific approach and real attention.

Partly because of my own youth, I think it is important that young people who are (temporarily) having difficulties receive support and personal attention. Just someone who really cares about you and therefore demands that you take your chances. These young people who learn and are sometimes tired of life have a negative image of themselves and the world and don’t see their future. This must change in their interest and that of society.
I have experience in working within schools on educational projects, student guidance and parent participation. I have done training and development programs in more than 200 schools at primary-, secondary- , Vocational education and University level.

I have worked on peer mediation, training in mentorship and counseling, career orientation. As a mediator in conflicts, the development of the “Difficult class” approach was more than self-evident. Helping to design and supervise relief programs for dropouts, problem youths and young offenders, have also motivated me to set up the Break Year program together with others.

As co-founder I am still active within Breakjaar, where young people have a year to work on themselves and their future. Within Eduxprss I help design and implement educational programs of the Respect Education Foundation. I provide training through Cordaid and the Respect Foundation in ex-conflict areas of Congo, Burundi and the Philippines.
